Muscatine, Iowa – Larry Richardson, a dedicated promoter of CJ Speedway, died unexpectedly on February 20, 2025, leaving the racing community in mourning.

Larry was well-known for his unwavering dedication to the sport of dirt-track racing. Larry’s influence at CJ Speedway during his 8.5-year tenure helped transform the track into a vibrant and thriving motorsports hub. His dedication to improving the racing experience for both drivers and fans earned him respect in the industry.

Larry was known for his kindness and genuine love for the racing community, and he developed long-term relationships with drivers, teams, and fans. His contributions not only shaped CJ Speedway but also had a long-term impact on motorsports in Iowa.

Friends, colleagues, and fans have paid tribute to Larry, remembering his passion and unwavering support for the racing community. A fellow racer, Jay Garvey, stated, “Larry was the only promoter I saw come through the pits and thank every driver.” “That was a pretty cool thing to do.”

The CJ Speedway community sent heartfelt condolences, including Sharon Niffenegger, who wrote, “He was one of the best.”

Larry’s public visitation will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m.
